In 2019, ��С�� geologist Dawn Sumner took part in an expedition to western Greenland led by Abigail Allwood of the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory. Their goal was to investigate a claim that biosignatures – traces of ancient fossil life – had been found in rocks 3.7 billion old. If confirmed, this discovery would change our view of how early life emerged on Earth and the possibilities for life appearing on other planets.

“Perseverance will get you anywhere” — and after a journey of seven months, 300 million miles and a nerve-racking seven-minute plunge through the Martian atmosphere, NASA’s Perseverance rover landed safely in Jezero Crater last Thursday (Feb. 18).

And, just like with the Curiosity rover that landed on Mars in 2012, ��С�� is part of the Perseverance mission, too.
