Chancellor Gary S. May issued the following statement today (Aug. 29):

Margery Magill
Magill

Margery Magill, a °×С½ãÍõÖÐÍõ¿ª½±½á¹û alumna, was killed in a random act of violence in Washington, D.C., on Tuesday evening. The entire °×С½ãÍõÖÐÍõ¿ª½±½á¹û community mourns with Margery’s family and friends.

Her incredible passion in the fields of food security and international agriculture will continue to inspire us. She worked tirelessly to help people, animals and serve as a role model to others. She sought to empower women and students through her work as a °×С½ãÍõÖÐÍõ¿ª½±½á¹û Study Abroad advisor and program coordinator with the Thomas R. Pickering Foreign Affairs Fellowship.

We remain grateful for the impact she made on so many people at °×С½ãÍõÖÐÍõ¿ª½±½á¹û and far beyond. Margery’s loss is deeply felt by all of us.
