April 28, 2 p.m. — April is Autism Acceptance Month, formerly Autism Awareness Month. Since 1998 the °×С½ãÍõÖÐÍõ¿ª½±½á¹û MIND Institute has been working to improve the lives of autistic and neurodivergent people, especially children, and their families and has seen many advances in understanding these conditions. Join us Thursday, April 28, to hear from three experts:
- Aubyn Stahmer is professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at °×С½ãÍõÖÐÍõ¿ª½±½á¹û Health. She is a child clinical psychologist and researcher specializing in translating interventions for children with autism and other developmental disabilities to community programs.
- Sarah Dufek is an assistant professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at °×С½ãÍõÖÐÍõ¿ª½±½á¹û Health. She is a licensed psychologist and board-certified behavior analyst with expertise in the assessment and treatment of autism across the lifespan.
- Patrick Dwyer is an autistic person who is currently pursuing his Ph.D. in developmental psychology at °×С½ãÍõÖÐÍõ¿ª½±½á¹û. He has a broad interest in helping to ensure that autistic people can lead fulfilling lives, but his research currently focuses specifically on sensory processing and attention in autism. In addition to being a researcher, Patrick facilitates a for neurodivergent students at °×С½ãÍõÖÐÍõ¿ª½±½á¹û.
